Jaded Hipster Choir
"Yo my name is Tom I'm in a Hipster Choir
Defendin' Ayn Rand, this shit is dire
Can't mess with me when I'm reppin JHC
Make another album samplin' studio ghibli" - Spin Magazine
R.I.P JHC (2008-2010)
Jaded Hipster Choir started out as a joke by Thomas Michael, attempting to cover Owen Pallett songs on violin and looping pedal. When he began writing material, he envisioned noise and pop coming together as a child, and wanting his music to be that baby's poop. A year later, Jaded Hipster Choir has transformed from a lowly bedroom project into a weird amalgamation of choral like tendencies and over-heating synths, and Franny Gurba's vocals.
Recently, he added Liam Trimble and Jenni Roberts (of Illfit Outfit fame) to his roster, slowly evolving into a strange, messy hybrid of minimal techno and classical sensibilities, crystallizing and sharpening its vision with each and every practice, show, and song.
