KOHU-63
Kohu-63 was founded in 1978. The original line-up was Simo (guitar), Futu (drums), Tipi (bass) and Gary (vocals). Not much is known of the early stages of the band except that they were featured on the first HILSE-compilation with a song “ Just like Eddy, I hate Teddy”. Kohu spent the next few years touring heavily around Finland until they spilt in 1981. The members played in various other bands of the Tampere scene for some time until band was reformed with slightly changed lineup. Of original members Simo and Futu were the creative force of this reunion The Rash vocalist Lättä and ex-Sensuuri bassist Jaska were added to the lineup and Kohu-63 was back again. After recording a demo the band was signed to Epe Helenius’ Poko Records. Epe liked what he heard and send the band straight back to studio. The result was “Pelimannimusaa” 7’’ with three songs. Epe was enthusiastic and wanted something new from Kohu. So the hardcore classic “Valtaa ei loistoa” 12’’ mini-LP was issued. After that Jaska had to go to the army so ex-Syfilis bassist Kulppi took his place. Epe proposed that Kohu should do a full-length LP next so the band went back to studio and recorded “Lisää verta historiaan” LP Funny anecdote of that recording is that 45 minutes after the record company owner Epe had sent the band to studio he phoned to studio owner / supervisor Sundqvist to ask how the band was doing. Well Sundqvist replied that the guys had left to a cafeteria nearby and Epe was justifiably furious, he stated that the guys should be recording an album, not drinking coffee in which Sundqvist replied “They already did.”
Kohu-63 is still active.
