Kamel Messaoudi
A slightly sad voice, set on a quiet music chaabi, Kamel Messaoui became known through his theme songs and shocking words.
Born in January 30, 1961 at Bouzaréah in a neighborhood on the outskirts of Algiers, he grew up in a modest family of Kabyle origin, packed in a small apartment located on the twelfth floor. Initially, respecting the trilogy of poor (escape through sport, entertainment or trabendo), he is attracted by football. Greatly influenced by his older brother who plays music, he also chose to become a musician. Before his good grades, his father encouraged him to devote himself to his studies. But this is the song that triumphs in his heart.
His beginnings were in 1974 when he formed a band chaabi. At the head of a new formation, in 1978 he hosted celebrations of weddings and circumcisions. Besides being a singer emeritus, he also plays the darbuka, guitar and mandolin. His name runs with increasing insistence. In 1985, Kamel Messaoudi attempts to produce a disc. Despite the modernity and the particularity of his style, his work has not been a great success but is nevertheless marketed as a mini-cassette in 1990.
In 1991 he released his first casette. "Echemaâ" (Candle), recited with conviction in the mode sika sbania (flamenco style), was a success in which a youth can be recognized. Under the influence of both el Sheikh Hasnaoui and Dahmane El Harrachi, Kamel Messaoudi produces a true manifesto chaabi returns to reality without losing its poetry. Appreciating both Ezzahi that George Michael and Magda Roumi, he realizes that thanks to the youth of his generation and Doumaz Meskoud such as renewal of chaabi becomes possible. Kamel Messaoudi has been strongly influenced by Sheikh El Hasnain and Dahmane El Harrachi.
He died too soon in a car accident 10 December, 1998, after participating in a nationally televised live on ENTV. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
