Kirjava Lintu
Kirjava lintu combines Finnish poetry and folk music
Kirjava lintu is a Finnish folk music band founded in 2004. Its fresh and acoustic compositions are influenced by Scandinavian folk music. Music ranges from swirling Swedish polskas to smooth and touching ballads. Line-up of the band is Minsku Tammela (vocals), Emilia Lajunen (violin and nyckelharpa), Kukka Lehto (violin), Juha Kujanpää (harmonium), Ilkka Heinonen (bass) ja Hannu Risku (percussion). The texts have been written by several Finnish poets: Helvi Hämäläinen, Hannele Huovi, Aki Luostarinen and Lauri Pohjanpää. All music is composed and arranged by the harmonium player, Juha Kujanpää. The band has been performing all around Finland, in several folk music festivals and venues.
Kirjava lintu’s first, self-titled album was released on 12.10.2007 on Finnish label Kiima-levyt, and it contains new, original, acoustic folk music composed to the poetry of several Finnish authors. You can order the cd for instance from here: www.jukeboxshop.net
