Klaudia Delmer
Klaudia Delmer was born in Barsoby, she grew up and started her musical studies in Spain, she finished her university studies in U.S.A. and has been living in Greece for the last years.
Before her studies of classic music, she showed intense interest for the traditional music and the poetry of the Mediterranean Countries. She also occupied, initially/at first with dance, classic and flamenco.
From New York’s Mannes College of Music, she got the Bachelor of Music (B.M.) with speciality in the opera and the lied. She continued her studies with very important persons in the sector of classic song such as Franco Corelli, Herman Prey and Victoria De Los Angeles. She feels though that the meeting with the Greek Soprano Maria Koromantzou, was the key for the phonetic technique she was looking for.
As a lyric female singer, she gave a lot of promises from the very first moment and she won the song competition of Rosa Ponselle and the contest Koussevitsky, in Lincoln Center of New York. She also did concerts – with several groups- and recitals in America, Spain, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Poland and Sweden.
When she came to Greece she cooperated with the Symphonic Orchestra and with the Orchestra of Contemporary Music of ERT as well, with the Organization of the Palace of Athens, with the Group of Contemporary Music of the Greek Composer’s Union, with the Miki’s Theodorakis Folk Orchestra and many others.
She has also appeared in the Lyric Scene, in operas and musicals as well with the directors: Yannis Karaxisarides, Christoforos Christofis, Vasilis Nikolaides and many others.
Evaluating the Greek roots in the type of Greek Music – a type which combines poetic and musical creation with the folk basis of plainsong – folksong- Klaudia gradually included in her activities, the creation in this kind of music. Having acquired herself an experiential relation with the music of M. Chatzidakis, M. Theodorakis and the younger composers, she felt like she needed to participate in this procedure. Assembling her experiences and her listenings from her studies and from the countries she lived in, reliant on the roots of the Greek Music, she proposed some new repertoires.
In June 2001 she released her first disk “Ainola” (LYRA – ML 0711), which included the compositions/syntheses of Vaggelis Fampas and Nikos Ksidakis in greek verses of Michalis Bourboulis, the Italian verses are Klaudia’s, and Spanish poetry of Antonio Gala. This disk got exceptional comments and criticisms from the Media and she acquired fanatic friends among the people who love music.
Klaudia supported her disk graphic job with concerts as well, where with the same material was presented familiar music, Greek and international.
In 9 May 2004 she performed at the Herod Atticus Odeon with the Orchestra of Colours in the concert “The Symphonic Songs for Europe” under the composition of Katerina Karamesini in poetry of 25 contemporaries, distinguished poets of the states-members of the European Union with the occasion of the enlargement and the integration of Cyprus.
Her last c.d. is called “Lamar – Ways of sea” and contains new and older songs of Mimis Plessas, with lyrics of Spanish and Latino – Americans poets.
She is travelling all over Greece performing with her band and with Mimis Plessas. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
