Kobong
Kobong was a math metal / progressive metal band from Warsaw, Poland. Their style was a blend of broken rhythms, heavy - yet catchy - riffs, amazingly technical drumming, dissonance, hardcore fury and, sometimes, soundscape and ethnic instruments. They released two albums in the 90's. Their first concert was in late 1994. It was something new that time on Polish heavy scene. Broken rhythms, great lyrics screamed in fury by Bogdan Kondracki and freaked drums played by legendary Wojtek Szymański (now drumming in Nyia) was something that made people crazy.
Opening album (self-titled) released in 1995, brought lots of psychedelic sounds, "fire" and real expression. Band got 2 prizes from "BRUM" magazine, in 1995. The band received an award for the best debut, and guitarist Robert Sadowski - for Best Composer.
Their second album - "Chmury Nie Było" - appeared by issue of Metal Mind Productions in 1997. The album proved the condition and high energy of the band. It's much more mature, more "smooth" but still kicks ass really hard.
Kobong gave their last show on the 5th of April 1998. Then the band suspended activity.
In 2001 three of Kobong's original members (Bogdan Kondracki, Maciej Miechowicz, Wojtek Szymański) formed a new band called Neuma, which released album "Neuma" in 2003 (via Tone Industria label).
Robert Sadowski died of heart failure on 26.01.2006. Before Kobong he played in bands Houk, Madame.
