Kongas
French percussion group featuring Cerrone. Their 1974 debut was co-produced by Alec R. Costandinos. Cerrone & Costandinos rose to fame two years later with the disco sensation Love in C Minor before they parted from each other, both continuing to record ground-breaking disco albums in the late 70s. Cerrone revived Kongas in 1977, producing the album Africanism, yielding a French single hit with their percussion-disco-rock version of Steve Winwood's "Gimme Some Lovin'". US label Salsoul Records had DJ Tom Moulton mixing and extending four songs off the original Kongas' 1974 album Afro Rock, releasing the new mixes as Anikana-O in 1978, while Cerrone released another Kongas album in 1979, the poor-selling Rocket In The Pocket. A final Cerrone production "Why Can't We Live Together" was released under the name Kongas in 1982. Read more on Last.fm.
