League Of Nations
League of Nations was a Los Angeles, CA based band comprising David Sinfield (vocals, piano, synthesizer) and Laurie Jean (drums, syncussion, rhythm programming).
The band grew out from recording sessions producing the two prior David Sinfield solo projects "Oblique Strategy" (released on cassette through "Eurock") and a 7 inch EP "NY Two" (released through Taursus Records).
A 12" single, "Fade/Thin Ice Door", was released in 1983.
A 12" four song EP with alternate mixes of "Fade/Thin Ice Door/For a Moment/Overlord", was released in 1983 by Taursus Records.
Their only full-length album, "Music for the New Depression", was released on Glaze Records in 1984. The band dissolved shortly after that over artistic direction, while recording a follow up alblum "Oceana",while adding new member Kim Erickson (bass guitar) in 1984. These were the "In the Rain" and "I Remember the Sun" sessions, with David Sinfield producing and John Gillis at the board.
David Sinfield recorded and limited released a solo work "Visions of Mangrove in China" in 1986 and finished recording "Oceana" with a reworked League of Nations adding Micheal Miller (bass and guitar) and "others" from 1986 through 1987 although these were never issued.
Several "bootleg" issues and compilations of League of Nations titles exist, and "Music for the New Depression" was re-released in 2008.
There is a possibility the Sinfield titles and "Oceana" may be released in the future, Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
