Los Difuntos
About LOS DIFUNTOS
Back in 2003 Christian Torres realized a dream when Los Difuntos crystallised from the germ of an idea and became a reality. Songs and band members came and went, but pivotal to it all was a rock solid faith that the material was good enough for others to hear. It took three long years of hard work to bring others around to this idea, but the members faith in the band was justifiably rewarded when in 2006 Tim Armstrong and Rancid Records put their money where their mouths were. Plucking Los Difuntos out of the ranks of LA punks, they put in the time, effort, cash and support to allow the band to record and see the release of the 'Born, Raised and Passed Away' EP. Off the back of this recording the band then managed to secure some much sought after support slots with Rancid themselves, and with their new found confidence, and a growing international fan base, were ready in 2007 to hit the studio, and hit the studio hard. Everything they had done had been leading up to this point, and with a combination of talent, hard work and being in the right place at the right time they were finally ready to grab the opportunity with both hands. The making of this album would serve to reward everyone who had remained true to the cause from the beginning. Regardless of whether it was family, friends, fans, record executives or a record label, Los Difuntos were ready to deliver on all they had promised. So all that needs to be asked now is did they do it? And the answer would be Hell Yeah! With Michael Rozon at the controls, and charismatic leader Christian T to the fore, Los Difuntos crafted an album that has all the classic elements of rebel rockers like The Clash and Rancid. An album owes as much of a debt to the rock and roll greats as it does to the current sounds of punk rock. That they can flavour it with personal experiences of living in East LA to give it an unmistakably and unique Los Difuntos' sound is solely credited to them. Musically this is East LA, but lyrically it's universal in it's honesty and lack of tolerance for bullshit. If you are late to the party don't worry. The album is out now on Nickel and Dime Records so Just grab a copy.
