Magi
There are at least two artists called Magi.
1) Magi were a tough high energy rock outfit from Northern Indiana in the mid-'70s. They attracted huge crowds whenever they played live. Often compared with Led Zeppelin, this 5-piece band possessed a tight and raw sound that combined in-your-face hard rock with undisguised psychedelic tendencies and lashings of fuzz. The band was well-appreciated for its excellent guitar work, and in the right place and time these guys could have been major. One song is about running out of weed. Recorded at Uncle Dirty's in Michigan. Expensive but still slightly underrated LP, to which the unfortunate front cover photo may have contributed. There was also a non-LP 45 track in the same style, and some good unreleased material exists. The band moved to LA in 1979 in an attempt to make it big, but soon fell apart. Bass player Tom Stevens later turned up in 1980s legends the Long Ryders.
