Marble Sounds
At the helm of Marble Sounds is Pieter Van Dessel, who is also part half of the electro band Plastic Operator. His first offering under the moniker Marble Sounds came about in 2007, while residing in Montreal, Canada. That four song EP, "A Painting Or A Spill", tuned into the unabashed nostalgia of bands like Pinback, The Notwist and Eels, layering beauty on top bitter-sweet sentiment. The track 'Redesign' received considerable air play on Belgian national radio (Radio 1, StuBru) and was picked up by the BBC DJ Steve Lamacq.
Back in Belgium, Van Dessel put together a band consisting of Gianni Marzo (Isbells), Frederik Bastiaensen (ex-General Mindy), Christophe Vandewoude and Johan De Coster (Soon). In a matter of weeks, Marble Sounds was opening for bands such as Why?, Micah P. Hinson, HRSTA and Keith Caputo (Life of Agony). The band also contributed the opening track to Chapter Music's tribute to Kath Bloom alongside such musical beau monde as Devendra Banhart, The Dodos, Bill Callahan and Mark Kozelek.
Marble Sounds released their first full-length CD “Nice Is Good” on Zealrecords in March 2010. The album features vocals by Robert Pollard (Guided by Voices) and a song co-written with Tokyo singer-songwriter Miwako Shimizu. Read more on Last.fm.
