Marchio Bossa
Marchio Bossa are a jazz bossa band from Italy created by Pippo and Piero Lombardo in 2001.
The objective of this project is the high-quality resonant reproduction of some of bossa nova’s greatest sounds (Antônio Carlos Jobim, Jorge Ben, Sérgio Mendes, et al.) and to infuse them with strong jazz components, making references to many internationally recognized jazz and funk talents (Al Jarreau, Earth, Wind & Fire, Pat Metheny, et al.).
All works by both authors are arranged by Pippo (composer of Balanco) with Piero as lyricist (primarily in Italian), and are concretized in hundreds of unpublished pieces and various covers. A selection of these pieces has been recorded and sent to many record labels. With strong backing from producer Marco Rossi of Azzurra Music in Verona, Marchio Bossa have realized four albums that boast success both critically and in sales (both online and in every corner of the globe).
In the meantime, they have also matured into an elegant and refined "live" act whose talent parallels that of many prominent Italian musicians.
For years, the backbone of the group has been the following:
Francesca Leone - vocals
Pippo Lombardo - piano and keyboards
Guido di Leone - guitar
Pierluigi Balducci - bass
Mimmo Scialpi - drums
They have also collaborated over time with:
Fabrizio Bosso (trumpet); Daniel Scannapieco (tenor sax); Gilson Silveira (percussions); Gaetano Partipilo (alto sax); Rocco Zifarelli (guitar); Marco Tamburini (trumpet); Leo Gadaleta (strings); Bruno Tassone (baritone sax); Fabio Lepore (vocals); and Tommy Gargano (vocals).
