Mathou
Mathou (born in Wiesbaden, real name Rainer Matuschek) is a German gallery owner, art dealer, pianist, song writer and singer. He lives in Berlin.
He is known for his title song You Never Walk Alone for the ZDF-TV series Friends for Life, which reached #16 in the German charts for 1 week at the beginning of 1993. He dedicated this song to his three sons. In the same year the song was acclaimed as the most successful television melody.
Mathou, who composed other title melodies for ZDF, joined up with soul and disco singer Thelma Houston in Los Angeles for the duet Keep the Candle Burning although it did not reach the German charts. He later went on tour with Houston. Mathou's later CD releases were not successful commercially, and as a performer he remains a One Hit Wonder.
In 1974 Mathou founded his own art publishing company with which he pursued his goal to bring together texts, pictures and music. His art showcase West Side Story, in collaboration with Leonard Bernstein, also became a big success. Read more on Last.fm.
