Melissa M
Melissa M (21 Aug 1985, Marseille) is French R&B and pop singer with Algerian heritage. Her Top 20 premier album, Avec Tout Mon Amour, released in 2007 has also the chart topping single, Elle.
Melissa M began singing at age 10 and by the age 14 achieved national fame as a finalist on the late 90's French tv talent show, Graine de Stars. This show was also famous for featuring other successful stars like Nâdiya, Leslie, Alizée, and Gregory Lemarchal.
Afterwards, she began an apprenticeship as a coiffeuse daily in her cousin's salon and on the weekends working with music compilations at the studio, M.A.P (Music Art Productions) under the producer Maurice.
Her first commerical recordings appeared on the Kilomaitre produced album, Taxi 4, in 2007. On this soundtrack album of the film she co-sings the song, Avec tout mon amour (With all of my love), with the French rapper Akhenaton and co-sings on another song entitled, Benthi (My daughter), with Khaled.
Later in 2007, Warner through their subsidiary label Up, released Mellissa M's debut solo album entitled, Avec Tout Mon Amour. The song, Elle, quickly rose to number one. Another sucessful single released was Cette fois (This time). It rose to No. 4.
She also has a new single and video, Quoi Que Tu Dises (Whatever you say) which is expected to premier on her 2nd album in 2009.
