Merrick
There are more than one Merrick in the music world.
1) Merrick (as comprised of Bryony Atkinson & Inara George):
2) Merrick ( Alternative Rock Band From Bristol, UK)
3) Merrick (pop punk/emo band from USA)
4) Merrick (experimental artist from Ayr, Scotland)
1) Merrick(Ayr, Scotland)
A man (Graeme Law) and a bunch of instruments injected with a sprinkling of poetry.
One should think of Merrick as the bastard child of Folk and Experimental music. Touring tends to involve acoustic renditions of each song. It's always rather tricky to clone one's self as a backing band. (Somewhat dictorial.)
so ola! Merrick may be an ambitious experimental solo project but we have heart. (We being me and myself.) Named after the mountain in the Scottish Lowlands - not the elephant man.
2) Merrick (Bristol, UK)
"Rock" or "Metal", being the broad terms they are, would suit as a genre for Merrick. As a four piece band from Bristol and the surrounding area, they started out with a commitment to playing the kind of music they all want to listen to. It's commonly known that if you play the vast majority of your songs with distortion then there are always going to be comparisons drawn. Merrick are no exception, but they do have their own sound. Think Tool, think Deftones, think dark groove based, melodic, edgy music, then you're in the right ballpark.
2009 see's the release of a new 7 track mini album "Just Chromosome". Recorded at Nott-In Pill Studios Newport by Ginge & Jeff (Both ex founder members of Dub War/Skindred). Ginge and Jeff have recently been working with Colin Richardson on the Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine releases.
Merrick split up in October 2011.
4) Merrick (as comprised of Bryony Atkinson & Inara George):
The band began in 1998, contributing songs to several film soundtracks (The Minus Man, HeartBreakers, Your Friends and Neighbors and Wasted), self-releasing/financing their two CDs and tours.
Their two albums have seen heavy rotation on KCRW by such D.J.'s as Nic Harcourt (Morning Becomes Eclectic), Gary Calamar (The Open Road) and Chris Douridas(Ground Zero).
Inara George has since gone on to pursue a solo career and find fame as part of The Bird and the Bee. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
