Monoton
There are multiple artists named Monoton:
1) Monoton is an Austrian experimental minimal wave band started by Konrad Becker in 1979. In 1998 The Wire magazine singled out Monoton’s record "Monotonprodukt07" from 1982 among the 100 most important records of the 20th century. In 1992 the Dutch techno DJ Daniël Leeflang (a.k.a. DJ Dano) became an additional member of the project.
2) Monoton is a quartet from Copenhagen, Denmark, started in 1996. Monoton plays heavy urban rock music with a dash of repetitive - distilled blues, moody country and dark evocative minimalism. The unique instrumentation underlines the searching, wistful atmosphere that saturates the songs of Monoton.
The tension between different traditions - the accordion, harp and lap steel on the one hand and the grandiose guitar escapades and drum tracks on the other - creates a brand of the blues situated on the threshold between the wide, well-lit interchanges of the big city and the small, dark country road.
Members include Søren Vibjerg (vocals, accordion) John Krøjer: (guitar) Hasse Ledet (bass, guitar), Anders Kidmose (drums, percussion).
3) Monoton was a college band from Leipzig, Saxony, Germany, playing Deutschrock in the mid-2000s on their own shows and as supporting act for artists such as Die Zöllner. The 5-piece split up in late '00s when the singer took a college year in Tennessee. Read more on Last.fm.
