Mosquito Coast
Jimi Hendrix, Primal Scream, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, T-Rex and the Paul Butterfield Blues Band wouldn’t be among the favourite artists of most 17 year olds. But those legendary sounds are what inspire Mosquito Coast. Hailing from the West Coast of Australia, the young Perth duo write guitar driven, indie music.
While their roots may be firmly planted in the past, the tracks feature the fresh, innocent and dream-like vocals of lead singer and guitarist Naomi Robinson, who sounds like a young Karen O.
As a 14 year old kid in Perth, Naomi struggled to find anyone to start a rock band with, so she put up flyers around her neighborhood and soon met fellow highschooler and young drummer Conor Barton. The pair have been jamming in Naomi’s parent’s basement ever since.
Naomi and Conor just want to jam out for a really, really long time, play like the Stone Roses and tour the world together.
