Mute Swimmer
Mute Swimmer is a musical project of the Berlin based British artist Guy Dale. Dale is as fascinated engaging with the traditions of the songwriting form as he is in dismantling them. Many of his songs refer directly to moment of writing, recording and performance itself.
Dale has described the music simply as being 'governed by grace, doubt and sabotage' but it can be said to draw from strands of art rock, post-hardcore, and alt-folk in highly idiosyncratic fashion.
New LP Air Itself is due early 2017 and features contributions from Daniella Grimm, Vincenz Kokot, Yan Fabre and Dorian Taywood.
In 2013 Dale convened a band around the Mute Swimmer name with Bernhard Bauch on drums, Felix Koch on trumpet and Nicolai Schorr on bass. Their various contributions are in evidence on the acclaimed LP Second (2014) and Present Perfect (2015)
Seven inch 'Song Against Itself/Some Examples' was single of the week in Rough Trade and Piccadilly Records. Other releases include Old Tricks (w/Own Road, 2013), Orientation (2011) and Mute Swimmer (2010)
