My America Is Watching Tigers Die
My America is a three-piece hardcore band with members from both Delaware and New York City. The band formed officially as a four-piece in 2004 as My America is Watching Tigers Die. In late 2008, after the departure of vocalist David Rushman, Matthew Turner (guitars) and Brian Miller (bass) took over vocal duties. At this point the band abbreviated their name to "My America". Their sound falls somewhere between "Songs to Fan The Flames of Discontent"-era Refused, Shellac and Unsane.
Since the moniker change they independently released an EP online on November 29th, 2010 entitled "Hurry Up and Chill". Prior to that, 'Stone Age' was released July 8th, 2008 on Pluto Records. The effort was produced by Chris Owens of Lords (Breather Resist, Coliseum, Ed Gein). Before the release of 'Stone Age' their most recent release was the '30,000 lb. 7"' released by Baltimore-based Emerald Moon Records in 2007; EMR also released their 8-song EP, 'Narratives', in 2006. Their first release was a 4-song CDEP from 2005 that was only sold at shows.
Although largely inactive now, the band toured the east coast heavily, completed 3 full U.S. tours and shared the stage with Kylesa, Alexisonfire, Every Time I Die, The Fall of Troy, Kayo Dot, Gaza, Fear Before the March of Flames, All Time Low, Curl Up and Die, Rosetta, Trap Them, The Wonder Years, Hot Cross, From First to Last, Have Heart, The Acacia Strain, and August Burns Red to name a few.
