Nedelle
Nedelle Torrisi, or just Nedelle (born September 27, 1980 in Redding, California) is an American musician who lives in Oakland, California. Her first album, Republic of Two was released by Kimchee Records in May 2003. Her second album, From the Lion's Mouth, was released by Kill Rock Stars in 2005. She also released an album Summerland with Thom Moore as Nedelle and Thom in 2004. She has released two 7" singles, Good Grief, and a tour split with Fred Thomas. The next album, The Locksmith Cometh, was released in 2007. Nedelle grew up studying classical violin and performing in musicals, with hopes of a Broadway career. Her mother is an ex-nun and pianist, while her father is an ex-priest and jazz drummer. Her brother is a clarinetist. Nedelle studied jazz history and earned a BA from San Fransisco State University. She has released and toured using her first name only, in the style of Lois (the two are friends). She has toured with Deerhoof, Destroyer, Fred Thomas, Jens Lekman, Magnolia Electric Co., and Xiu Xiu. She performed background vocals on albums by The Curtains, and John Vanderslice, and played violin on an album by Xiu Xiu. She was a touring member of The Curtains in 2006. She is currently a member of the band, Cryptacize, whose debut album called Dig That Treasure was released in early 2008 by Asthmatic Kitty Records.
