One Bad Son
What do you get when you put four mildly disturbed young men in a band house for two years in the middle of the cold, isolated prairie, feeding them Stooges, Soundgarden, rare meat and Zeppelin? Maybe something like Saskatoon's One Bad Son, who are about to take over your iPod.
One Bad Son is an anomaly in today’s music industry. At a time when mainstream hard rock has become stale and predictable – and viewed as passé in most indie rock circles – One Bad Son has defied the norm, finding success in a niche of hard rock that is as fresh and intelligent as it is loud.
In the summer of 2007, Grammy-award winning hard rock band Godsmack personally chose them over every Saskatchewan band that applied to play an opening set in front of 3000 screaming fans in Regina. In the crowd that night was a local promoter, who then offered the band an opening slot for L.A.’s Buckcherry and Vancouver’s Default in front of 5000 strong at Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon on New Year’s ’07. Default was so impressed with their live show that they invited One Bad Son to join them on tour the following summer. And it was that tour that led Default drummer Danny Craig to pursue the band as producer for their upcoming recording. And so the story continues.
