Ortega
There are at least 3 artists using the name Ortega.
1) Ortega is a four-piece sludge/doom collective from The North of The Netherlands. Four men tell a tale of the sea which is told in a broad and visual manner. the sound is best described as dark metal balanced with spheric soundscapes together with slow and heavy riffs.
The band was formed in 2008 and has been playing local stages ever since. 2009 saw the release of their first recording, a promo containing 3 songs, and in 2010 their full-length concept album '1634' hit the shelves. The album 1634 was recorded and mixed by JB van der Wal (Dr. Doom, Herder, Aborted), who is also known for his work for Dr. Doom, Greyline, Grinding Halt and Suffering Quota.
The band went back into the studio in 2011, again with JB van der Wal, to record their follow-up EP A Flame Never Rises On Its Own, which was released in the beginning of 2012 on Badger Records.
2014 saw the release of Crows, a single track spanning almost 20 minutes. Crows is a part of a yet unnamed album, to be released later this year by Black Bow Records on vinyl and Tartarus Records on cassette.

2) Every so often a band emerges as if from nowhere armed with a depth of song writing that is simply stunning. Enter Ortega…
The seven piece from Cannock in the Midlands have been doing what bands do – learning their craft (both live and on record), becoming big names on the local circuit, selling out their first self-made demos and building up to their debut single through Co Star Entertainment set for release in late 2007.
The debut single Times Are Changing will show us all what the band are truly capable of. The track features a multitude of driving riffs and flowing synths which are mixed tastefully with tight rhythms and topped off with the uniquely powerful dual vocal melody. The single also features the equally brilliant No Amount Of Make-Up (Can Cover Up the Break-Up) and Here’s To Another 25 Years. The final track is a live acoustic reworking of the well known favourite, Check In Check Out. The release has been put together by Ortega with the help of Frankie (former Days In December, now Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), Troy Glessner (UnderOath, Emery, Anberlin and many more) as well as Brandon Rike from Dark Collar (former Dead Poetic)
Ortega have proved themselves an accomplished live act, regularly selling out popular venues in all the nearby towns and cities. The band have also supported acts such as Men Women and Children, Dopamine and The Blackout. Ortega will be touring the UK to support the release of the single.
