Paul Hazendonk
Paul Hazendonk was born in the suburbs of Rotterdam in 1982. Being influenced by music at a very young age, Paul quickly noticed deejays mixing records together and found his passion. At the age of 12 he mixed his first records and started playing at school parties. Aged 16 he had won the deejay contest at his local radio station twice but he was still to young to perform at clubs. His first club gig was at age 18 and after that it all seemed like one big rollercoaster ride. In a relatively short period of time Paul Hazendonk was asked to perform at Hollands' most infamous clubs and parties and he also had his first foreign gigs at age 19. Nowdays Paul Hazendonk has played at nearly all the big Dutch venues such as Melkweg, Paradiso, Now&Wow (Maassilo), Patronaat, Poema, Nighttown, Las Palmas, OffCorso, Waakzaamheid, Winkel van Sinkel, De Rechter, Doornroosje, Asta and many many others. Next to that he has played in countries such as Sweden, Switserland, Slovenia, Croatia, Spain, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Estonia, Belgium, France, Hungary and Ukrain.
Throughout the years Paul Hazendonk has done three mix CD's and numerous releases on plus a big list of remixes for artists such as Petter, Jesse Somfay, Jeff Bennett, Sinisa Tamamovic, Dejan Milicevic and many many others. His tracks/remixes were released on labels such as Manual Music, Stolen Moments, Shadowfax, Kill Brique, Punch Funk, Kung Fu Dub and many others. Same as with the sound he plays as a deejay, his sound as a producer/remixer has evolved from the full on hardgroove techno he used the play at the early days of his carreer, into a deeper intense funky sound, blending elements of techhouse, minimal, progressive house and techno (but who cares for all those genre tags anyway, right?). However nowdays Paul is back producing some hardgroove techno under his 'Prude Polly' alter ego for a variety of labels. Check out the Prude Polly Myspace for more info on that.
Back in 2000 Paul started working at Basic Beat as a shop assistant for their recordstore. Nowdays he is the person responsable for the A&R for all their labels such as Adult Records, Relatives, Work Hard Play Hard and Basic Energy, next to his own brainchilds Manual Music and Stolen Moments which are also part of the Basic Beat record company. Following the success of these labels he is also involved in the Manual Bookings agency and the Adult Bookings agency, for which the day to day business is handled by his agent Michael Commu. To make the story complete Manual Music is hosting a monthly radio show 'Manual Movement' on the infamous Proton Radio internet radio station, Manual Music is hosting labelnights on a regular basis, and Paul is member of the newly found Manual Orchestra, a 7 man electronic band (Giorgos Gatzigristos, Qbical, Tundra, Thomas Lauren, Piet van Dongen, Paul Hazendonk) who perform live with a whole bunch of laptops, midi controllers, effectgear etc.!
