Poprace
Poprace was an indie group from Sweden that consisted of Karolina Komstedt, Joakim Ödlund, Johan Angergård, Jens Hård, Henrik Mårtensson and Anders Baeck.
The band formed during 1992. After some rough months in the rehearsing room Poprace finally entered the studio and recorded 5 songs, which are documented on the Hangliding at Sea single released on March-Marigold. The sound was tough and inspired by The Wedding Present's excellent Seamonsters. Maybe too tough for the typical March-Marigold fan because the record had very bad sales figures. In 1993 the band surprised their German-based audience live in Hamburg with an aggressive set. The band also performed a few successful gigs in Sweden 1994-1995.
In 1994 the band changed their sound a bit. The vocals was now more pop than rock and the band recorded 5 new songs in 1995. Elefant Records released these songs in 1996 but by then the band had already split up. Ödlund and Angergård were already members of Acid House Kings at the time of Poprace's '92 formation and returned to their mother group. Komstedt later formed the duo Club 8 with Angergård.
