Pura Fé
Pura Fe' is best known as the founding member of the internationally renowned native women a capella trio, Ulali, and is recognized for creating a new genre, mixing contemporary sounds and native traditional music.
Pura Fe' opened up for Neil Young with one of her first solo performances in 2004. Since then, she has released four albums, and toured extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe while spreading the message of the indigenous influence on the birth of the blues.
“Singing is my first language!" she says. “Our voice stems out of North Carolina, our ancestral homeland of the Tuscarora Nation”. Pura Fe’s Mothers family of mixed ancestry is “the experience” of many Southern and Eastern Nations that endured slavery, removal, deportation, through colonization and commercial genocide.
Pura Fe' now tours internationally with her band, Pura Fe' Trio, which includes talented musicians Cary Morin and Pete Knudson.
‘Full Moon Rising’, her latest studio release, ranges from traditional melodies to scorching blues with her usual grace and dedication. In this album, Pura Fe adds a healthy sprinkling of rap and canoe chants to her music and includes guests artists Jennifer Kriesberg of Ulali, members of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, Deer Clan Singers and more.
Her latest release with the trio: Pura Fe Trio: A Blues Night in North Carolina, was released in 2011. It is a live recording with over two hours of music featuring Justin Robinson of Carolina Chocolate Drops fame and the Deer Clan Singers.
