From the depths of the underground to the shadows of the pop world, Purple Crush fights the DIY fight. This married duo came to be in the Brooklyn club scene and rode the blog house wave into the laptops of hipsters worldwide. Purple Crush twerked and vogued in foreign countries with the release of their EP Welcome 2 Emoclub on their own label, Crushed Records, which included the heavily remixed track Shopping on the Dancefloor. Over the years Crushed Records has brought to the digital world releases with artists like LE1F, Spank Rock, AC Slater, Shir Khan, and Scotty B. Purple Crush was asked to produce music for Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way,” only to be left with a lawsuit defending their copyrights and acting as their own lawyers (covered by Rollingstone and Billboard). After a long battle, and like a “Fierce Warrior,” Purple Crush has risen from the ashes with the release of ICONOCLASSIC.
ICONOCLASSIC is a collection of 13 songs that exist between analogue and digital, rebelling against pop music while embodying the eras of pop we all long for. Purple Crush has joined forces with LA’s Dj Josh Peace (Azealia Banks), NY’s Cobra Krames, Raja (RuPaul’s Drag Race winner), and an army of up and coming queer rappers and drag artists. Mastered through a vintage tape machine, this colorful album seeks timelessness while walking the path of the iconoclast; against the grain - forever ICONOCLASSIC. Read more on Last.fm.
