Quinteto em Branco e Preto
O Quinteto em Branco e Preto is a samba group from São Paulo, Brazil formed in 1997 by five young musicians who met at a samba bar in the traditional neighborhood of Bixiga. The fivesome are brothers Yvison (Casca), Everson and Vitor Pessoa plus Magnu Souzá and Maurílio de Oliveira. The group has already played alongside such samba greats as Beth Carvalho (the group´s godmother), Almir Guineto, Dona Ivone Lara.
Brothers Magnu and Maurílio are founding members and composers of Comunidade Samba da Vela, a traditional "roda de samba" (samba jam sessions) that take place every Monday at the Casa de Cultura de Santo Amaro, in the periphery of São Paulo, where samba composers introduce their songs directly to the public.
