Rashid Ajami
Rashid Ajami was born in 1990 in London, where he first discovered the vibrant rave and dance music scene. It grabbed his imagination and he became driven, first by an admiration for and then by the desire to create emotive electronic music. His interests range across the wide spectrum of the scene and he has experimented with many different sounds over the short time that he has devoted himself to producing tracks.
His first official release was a progressive house track on Sambuca, entitled ‘Lets Be Free’, which received remixes from Jerome Isma-Ae and tech duo David Amo & Julio Navas. The track achieved a number 1 on Juno Download and Top 10 on Beatport’s Progressive chart, and has received support from big DJs such as Paul Oakenfold and Above and Beyond.
Recently, his interests have focused upon deep house, to which he intends to bring his soulful vision. In August 2012 he released ‘Rule The World’ with remixes from Maya Jane Coles and Ramon Tapia on Yellowtail Records. This achieved a number 19 position on the beatport deep house charts and no.2 position on the German club charts. The EP has been supported by many top artists including Tocadisco, Kaiserdisco, Nico Lahs and Andre Crom to name a few. It was even included on Wankelmut’s compilation released via get physical music.
