Red Alert
1) Oi! band formed in Sunderland around May of 1979. The original line up was: Steve "Cast Iron" Smith (vocals), Tony Van Frater (Guitar), Gaz Stuart (bass) and Dona (drums). The band was later inspiration for bands such as: Strawman, Red London or Opcio K-95. Reformed in the early 90s RED ALERT is still around.

2) Also the original name of anarcho punk band Protest, as Red Alert they appeared on the Crass Records compilation "Bullshit Detector".

4) Red Alert are also an 80s style straight edge hardcore punk band from Richmond, VA. They are in the process of releasing a 3 song demo tape. Their heaviest influences include SSD, DYS, Cause for Alarm and Minor Threat. They have since changed their name to just REDALERT, to avoid confusion with the UK group.
