Riddim Colony
RIDDIM COLONY
The no.1 authentic reggae band of Hungary plays real passionate culture music from deep roots to the hottest dancehall in original Jamaican style from their foundation in 2005. Every concert of theirs is a unique, unforgettable musical experience, the burning positive vibes are guaranteed. The band often works together with different mc-z and singers and their repertoire is ever fresh. The hardcore riddim section with a strong combo of 3 horns gives the base to Gregory G.Ras, who is the golden voice of the band supported by 2 wonderful vocalist ladies. G.Ras is a conscious warrior of righteousness, peace and justice, always bringing serious message to the audience. His lyrics and style together with the tough riddims (mostly own original, but also some international ones) played by the band result top-class deejay, singjay and singer-style dancehall, roots and lovers tunes. Riddim Colony is regularly playing in its hometown Budapest, all around Hungary and abroad as well. The high artistic level, the powerful positive message, the energetic stage show have become their flavour, that’s why they are permanent guests of many festivals and clubs. They've shared the stage with several reggae legends like Max Romeo, Sizzla Kalonji, Perfect, Mykal Rose, Yellowman, House of Riddim, and in the summer of 2009 the band played with great success among Glen Washington, Anthony B and Third World on the main stage of Rototom Sunsplash Festival. As a backing band they have already worked together with Ray Darwin (JAM), Mandingo Warrior (Gambia), Lion D (I-Nig), Henry P (SEN), Osagyefo (GH), General Trix (RO), Kemon (WG), Sena, Columbo, Milli Chab and many others and ready to back any top artist of any reggae/dancehall style.
Their first album Message of I&I was released in 2008, some tunes of it are still played often by radio stations in Hungary. Their first video clip was made from the killer tune 'Wha Gwaan' at the Black Sea with the great General Trix from Timisoara. This clip was put onto Hungarian music TV playlists. In 2009 the band released a 4-song-EP, called 'What a Day' debuted in January 2009 containing the clip as well. Lead singer G.Ras has also released his first solo LP titled ’Burn Fyah’ in 2009.
Riddim Colony’s brand new second LP: ’More Love To Share’ is out since 23rd April 2010. The album is strong and energetic, with catchy tunes of very differents styles and featuring three great guest singers: Ray Darwin (JAM), Mandingo Warrior (Gambia), Sena (Ghana-Hungary). The band’s second video: Hot Gal is also out since April 2010. Riddim Colony is on Hungarian and international album release tour from April 2010.
