Right Away, Great Captain!
Right Away, Great Captain! is the side project of Andy Hull, lead singer of Atlanta, Georgia rock act Manchester Orchestra. In contrast with the indie rock of his main band, RAGC features a stripped down, lo-fi indie folk sound. Hull has released 3 albums in trilogy format, in addition to a "rarities" album with previously unreleased songs and demos, depicting the story of a 17th century sailor. Hull releases RAGC albums through his Favorite Gentlemen Recordings label.
Right Away, Great Captain! recorded their debut album The Bitter End over a span of 3 days in a 100 year old log cabin near Bastian, VA in August of 2006. It is a concept record concerning a 17th century sailor at sea for 3 years. Each song is a journal entry to either his family at home, or his captain.
Part two of the story The Eventually Home was released in 2008.
The final part of the trilogy The Church Of The Good Thief was released mid-January of 2012. 6 months later in July, The Lost Sea was released. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
