Rob van de Wouw
Dutch trumpeter Rob van de Wouw just released (okt 2009) his second solo album “Tunnelvision” on Embrace Recordings. For this album he colaborated with the renowned producer/beatmaker: Mark de Clive-Lowe (london,UK). The result is a hybrid mixture of a live band with programmed beats, vintage synths and effects and space-jazz. ‘Jazz meets twisted-future-funk-beats-mashi-fashion’ is what Mark (Mashi) called it. There are guestappearances by Dutch Soulrebel Ivar, Sharlene Hector (UK, Basement Jaxx) and US Rapper Replife. The album got outstanding pressreviews and is on the shortlist for an Edison for Best Jazz/World album 2010 in The Netherlands.
In 2007 Rob released his debut CD: ‘Reboot Your Soul’ (Embrace Recordings) a mixture of jazz, funk, soul &R&B. This project once started as Urban Jazz Sessions. Under that name Rob and his band performed on a monthly basis for over two years at Rotown (www.rotown.nl) in Rotterdam. The album was well received by the Dutch Press and got quite some airplay on Dutch radio. Rob and his band played many clubs and festivals. Highlights were North Sea Jazz Festival (2007), The Hague Jazz (2007,2009), Pure Jazz (2008) and a theater-tour 2008-2009.
