Rumble In Rhodos
Grace and Nuance out now!
Rumble in Rhodos is a band born in Oslo in late 2003. If you haven't heard of them before, you've missed four full-length albums, one EP and more than 400 energetic indie rock shows doused with touches of no-wave, danceable post-punk, while accented by obtrusive underground.
On Sings of Fervent Devotion (2011): Our two fold focus was a third full-length album and to regenerate our creativity with a new expression. After seven years together as a band, it was time to include other forces of inspiration to find their right direction and become communicators of a quality atmosphere. The new album, entitled Signs of Fervent Devotion, speaks to the accomplishment of our focus. With producers Erlend Mokkelbost (JR Ewing, Killl, Montée) and Anders Tjore (Montée, Turns, Apricot), Rumble in Rhodos has, without a doubt, created their best album so far. Through our wild and magical studio sessions, based on trial and error, we have consumed the winter's energy. The producers have pulled a formally exhausted musical effort to a nurtured new stage; folding each separate track's dynamics into one another in a wonderful, edgy way. We have fused a fascination of old fashioned Punk/Funk, Art Rock, 70's Prog Rock, and modern indie rock into an expression which shakes your core and gently caresses the small of your back. Signs of Fervent Devotion, is mixed by none other than Brit, Nick Terry (Klaxons, Serena Maneesh, Libertines, Franz Ferdinand). Nick has added to the already ambitious and pulsating effort, a calm and balance needed to communicate the album's ingenuity. While crafted in a cheeky and daring way, it shocks as it delivers. Rarely does such a hungry and greedy rock record from Norway, resonate so thoroughly. So, look out for this unusual breath of northern air, as Rumble in Rhodos release our third consecutive album on Tuba Records on April 8th, 2011. With a track list packed with hits and our most thoroughly crafted material to date, we have shone a light to our future sound.
With strong press articles in the Norwegian press, invitation to perform at The Canadian Music Week(CMW) and winning the award in the category "Favourite New International Artist", The Indies 2006", among touring intensely over the norwegian continent their confidence are ready for international acknowledge.
The rumbles were formed in early 2003. A sincere collaboration between five friends uniting their musical differences and backgrounds, resulting in advantages. Without any detours the luminary music scene in Norway opened their eyes for this exploding act and the past went trough a journey of adventures for Rumble In Rhodos.
In 2004 the Zoom (underground music contest in Norway) was conquered and RIR played intensely trough norwegian continent. The contest also resulted in strong press articles in the leading newspapers and web portals in Norway. Their EP were well acclaimed, and all the biggest festivals in Norway( Quart, oya, Slottsfjell etc.) invited Rumble In Rhodos.
Fader magazine wrote after the oya festival " The sleeper band of the festival is also the recipient of the Dr Dog Award. Rumble In Rhodos are five young norwegian dudes who are on some At The Drive In shit with slightly softer angles. The lead singer plays both Blood Brothers at once, singing one line with a Cedric Bixler Zavala high voice, then drops down into a really nice low singing voice. The songs are great, but they get the Dr Dog Award for being young dudes that dont try to act like rock stars, or anything at all for that matter. They dont dress up like assholes and they dont pose. One guy does have a kinna crazy mustache, but it looks awesome and hes Norwegian so maybe its not weird. But yeah, RIR just play great hardcore-ish rock and are psyched about it. So are we"
Their reputation for being a killer live band is no fucking joke. All their historical moments can easily be seen in the positivity and self confidence that surrounds the band. The established management GOLDSTAR( Cato Salsa Experience, JR Ewing, Enslaved+ ) picked up the band on their roster. The cd version of "Own me like the city" is released by the major independent distribution company in Norway, Tuba records and have already made GREAT reviews in national papers.
