SG Wannabe
SG워너비 (Eng : SG Wannabe, SG stands for Simon and Garfunkel ) is a popular South Korean trio that debuted in 2004 with their single "Timeless." They became an instant hit and the song, along with the music video, was played on cellular phones all over Korea, and their CD topped the charts. The group didn't star in their music video, appear on television or stage concerts, and remained mysterious and faceless for quite some time. Still, they proved that talent was enough for them to remain extremely popular.
The members, David (Chae Dong Ha), Whyme (Kim Yong Joon) and Kim Jin Ho are all recognized for their amazing vocals. Later in 2004, the group was recognized for their vocal ability with numerous awards, including nominations for Best Newcomer at the Golden Disc Awards and the Seoul Popular Music Awards.
On March 29, 2005, their sophomore album was released. It included popular hits like "Sin & Punishment," which received numerous awards both for the video and for the song itself, and "Saldaga (While You Live)." The album was pre-ordered and their record sales have surpassed those of other popular bands. Their song "Sin & Punishment" beat TVXQ's "Rising Sun" video despite TVXQ's amazing fan girl base, proving that SG Wannabe's talent was undeniable. On September 14, 2005, the group released the "Classic Odyssey," their 2.5 album. 1 billion won budget went into SG Wannabe's new remake album. It included hits such as "My Heart's Treasure Box" (내 마음의 보석상자). On April 11, 2006, the trio released the long anticipated 3rd album, called "3rd-The Masterpiece." Just like what they did in the second album (the music video had two parts; the first part was with the song "Sin and Punishment" (죄와벌), while the second part was with the song "As We Live" (살다가)), their third album will also contain two-part music videos. The first part will be with the title song "Partner for Life" (내 사람) starring Shinhwa's Kim DongWan, and the second part has been already released with "Slow" (느림보).
However, leader and main singer Chae Dong Ha, left the group last year due to certain complications. He is replaced by Lee Seok Hun. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
