SQL
The Dutch producer and DJ Pim van Horssen started producing and playing at
the age
of 16 and by time he was 19 he had already played in parties and clubs
all over the world. He had several joined projects in styles ranging from
electrohouse to triphop. In early 2008 he started his solo project: SQL
The Definition of SQL or “Sequel” is “a published, broadcast, or recorded work that
continues the story or develops the theme of an earlier one.”
This is pretty much what 22year old producer Pim van Horssen trys to accomplish
with his productions and livesets, create an interesting storyline that develops
troughout his music. Because of this you canʼt really pin him to one single genre
within electronic music, his productions fresh and innovative.
In 2009 his most succesfull release till date “Distorted Reality” reached nr.1 in the
beatport charts and held this position for weeks! It was played by some of the top djʼs
of the scene like Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola. This gave SQLʼs career a huge
boost and placed him along the top producers of the scene. After this milesstone
several other releases like “Dark Matter ft. Tom Real” and “Synaesthesia” reached
the charts worldwide.
These releases made SQLʼs productions high in demand. Labels like MBF , SK
Supreme and BEEF requested him to remix some major artists. His Remixes for
Piemont that were relased on MBF did so well that it was not long until they asked
Pim to do his first 12” EP for the prestigueous label. In 2009 he entered the Pioneer
Pro Dj Contest of Holland and reached first place competing against 200 other djʼs.
In 2010 SQL continued to remix big artists like Kabuto & Koji, Moonbeam, M.I.D.I and
many others. His 12” EP for MBF got some major support from artists like D-Nox,
Michel de Hey, Paco Osuna, Max Cooper and many more. People from all over the
world started to take notice of SQLʼs music and he got bookings worldwide including
India, Mexico, Australia, Brazil and all around Europe.
In the end of the summer he played at Boom festival, one of the biggest alternative
festivals of Europe.
Coming winter there is another 12” EP planned for MBF, which will be a collaboration
with Australian artist “Child” who he met while touring India.
SQL will continue to move crowds around the world and loads of releases are
planned for 2011, so stay tuned!
