Saulius Mykolaitis
Saulius Mykolaitis (1966-2006). Saulius Mykolaitis was born on the 15th of January, 1966. His hometown was Ramygala (Panevėžys distr.), Lithuania. Saulius was an actor at Lithuania's National Theatre and Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre (OKT). He also directed some plays. He had roles in films such as "Forest Of the Gods" ("Dievų Miškas", 2005, LT) and "Utterly Alone" ("Vienui Vieni", 2003, LT), but was perhaps best known for his small screen character Tomas in the TV series "Gedimino 11". In autumn 2005 he released an acoustic solo album named "Nothing's Said" ("Nieko Nepasakyta"). His other unpublished recordings - originating from live performances and other sessions - were collected in two posthumous albums, "To Draw The World" ("Nupiešti Pasaulį", songs from plays for children) and "Debesys" ("The Clouds"). Mykolaitis wrote music and words for his songs, as well as sang poetry by well-known authors. His style is intense, lyrical and emotional, with both ironic, even sardonic and helplessly tender moments. As an actor, he often found himself unemployed, and in the instances were he had a chance to express himself, he felt the lack of critical attention. Towards the end of his life he suffered from alcoholism. Saulius Mykolaitis committed suicide on the 18th of February, 2006. He was forty. Each year commemorative concerts take place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
