Shahin & Sepehr
Shahin and Sepehr is an Iranian-American guitarist duo. Their music is mainly composed of Spanish guitar melodies fused with components of soft rock, flamenco, jazz, new age, and influences of traditional music of Iran. Their influences also include bands such as Cat Stevens among others, according to their own website.
While their names may seem indicative of something exotic and unfamiliar, the music of Shahin Shahida (acoustic and Spanish guitars) and Sepehr Haddad (guitars and keyboards) is smooth, easy-listening material designed to rest comfortably on Western ears. The Iranian-American duo's lively sound revolves around Shahin's graceful, flamenco-tinged guitar textures, unobtrusively embellished by Sepehr's keys
They have released a total of 6 albums (One Thousand and One Nights, E, Aria, World Cafe, Nostalgia) and their "best of" album is entitled "East/West Highway" and it samples the duo's first four recordings (while also tossing in two new tracks), and it presents a decent showcase of the musicians' strengths.
S&S have released these albums on both the EMI and Virgin record labels, and all their CDs have debuted on the Top 20 Billboard New Age charts, with their debut album "One Thousand and One Nights" making it all the way to No. 6 on the charts.
Shahin & Sepehr's music has been featured on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered", BET on Jazz, CNN's WorldBeat, FOX, and other national programs, and has been used on soundtracks for movies and documentaries worldwide.
As described on their website, the single "Fields of Change" was recorded in 2008 in Washington DC by the Billboard chart-topping world music duo of Shahin & Sepehr (S&S).
S&S recorded this song with the belief that we all need to change the way we think about the world. This transcends the current excitement for change in the political arena. Change in the way we think about the environment, and our interactions with one another, as indivials, and as nations. A renewing of our minds. Change is good, if it brings out the best in all of us.
