1) The debutalbum Broken Pilgrims of Social Suicide brings press murmurs up and against the wall as the most promising post-hardcore shit we've seen in awhile. Norway's premier music channel Lydverket named them, "Norway's new hardcore hope" and Norway's New Music Daily wrote, "In short, Broken Pilgrim's the hottest, most explosive and catchy metal / hardcore punk album for a long time in this country.
Swear!" Sure, they represent the new wave of kids schooled in underground hardcore testifying to the same vein of great bands preceding them. But to be frank, hearing this band in a sea of "crabcore", haircuts, or double zeros is as goddamn refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon. It's due time for a band like this, and the revival of LAinspired screamo/hardcore in Norway fortunately for us, has come with less of the LA and more of the hardcore.
MetalReviews declared, "This is the best I've heard of Norwegian hardcore/posthardcore since JR's Maelstrom, but oh wait, even that wasn't this cool. Highly recommended."
This four-piece from rainy Bergen - Norway's second largest city known more on the international map for funky, electro or pop acts-- who've instead sprouted quickly as new, burgeoning voices within such a milieu. Hardcore in Norway is relatively isolated unlike the interconnected scenes in the States, venues to play and fellow acts are few and far between. But without competing influences do they manage to carry an impeccable sound, touched upon by visionary recording engineer Tommy Akerholdt (Serena Maneesh, Silver, Turbonegro) and mixed by Nick Terry (Klaxons and Primal Scream). Such startling vision and a no-frills campaign from these small-town youngsters is guaranteed to leave zero disappointed.
Social Suicide were shortlisted for every major festival in Norway last year, and will begin their first European ever in April 2011 joining the "Through The Noise European Tour 2011" with Comeback Kid, The Ghost Inside, Kvelertak and Gravemaker.
2) Social Suicide was an early 80s American hardcore band formed in DC. They are best known for their contribution to the 1982 compilation 'Mixed Nuts Don't Crack' in which they had 5 tracks alongside other DC bands such as United Mutation, Media Disease, and Hate From Ignorance.
Social Suicide was:
Brian-vocals
Ben-guitar
Danny-drums
Joe-bass
3) A 4 peice band comes together after a gazillion line up changes. 8 Original compositions later came Social Suicide...a band where the toughest thing they had to do till date was come up with a decent name. Still not officialy in the scene, They successfully have a fan following of about 100 people and a fairly decent place to jam. They are primarily an alternative band that do covers, and have an attractive set of Original compositions as well. They have played at 3 venues till date, the first being at Sophia's College in Mumbai, and then Ecole Mondiale before making it to their best yet, the Hard Rock Cafe, in Worli, Mumbai.
