Software
Software is a German electronic music duo.
The band was formed in 1984 by Mergener Peter (* 1951) and Michael White (b. 1948). Prior to forming Software, they worked together as Mergener & White.
The LPs and CDs of the band appeared under the label IC (Innovative Communication), which was owned by electronic musician Klaus Schulze and released music by numerous other electronic musicians, as well as German New Wave Group Ideal.
In the years 1990-1992 White produced, during a temporary separation from Mergener, four albums under the name of software with different themes: Fragrance with Klaus Schulze and Georg Stettner (* 1970) and Modesty Blaze I. and II and Cave with Billy Byte (aka Stephan Töteberg).
After the dissolution of software in 1999, the musicians went their separate ways: Peter Mergener composed and continues to play electronic music, while Michael Weisser formed GENE and is among other things is working as a "media artist".

This jazz album features Gary Smith on drums, Dennis Johnson on bass, Bill Rupert on lead guitar, Patrick Leonard on keyboards, and Mark Colby on saxophone. Gary Smith and Dennis Johnson are former members of the rock group Survivor.
