Sometree
Not much was heard from these boys lately. In the aftermath of their 2003 release Moleskine, SOMETREE had been in the centre of the music scenes public eye; after having played more than 300 Shows all over Europe they went into hiding for the last two years.
Their first place of retreat took the form of a small summer cottage on the godforsaken coast of Denmark. Far away from everyday life and close to the sea, they inhaled the fresh air, played around with some of their piled-up ideas and, in late 2004, laid the creative headstone for their fourth studio album. On returning from Denmark, they immediately packed their bags again. Retreat number two: Hamburgs Electric Avenue Studio, where they produced a session together with TOBIAS LEVIN, former BLUMFELD guitarist and producer of bands like TOCOTRONIC, KANTE and TO ROCOCO ROT. During this time they played a few club shows and toured the United Kingdom twice to try out the new songs for themselves and a few insiders.
Back in the studio, they unexpectedly but inevitably left right away again. They had come to a turning point, the basis was laid. Overdubs, vocals and mix were not - as initially planned - to be recorded in Hamburg. SOMETREE left. Their way led them away from Hamburg as well as their hometown Hannover: all four of them moved to Berlin. This being a conscious decision, they knew what they wanted: in their new hometown they recorded piano, horns, and vocals themselves. Their third dive included a change in routing. In late 2005 they met GORDON RAPHAEL. The former STROKES producer and K. COBAINs favourite guitarist liked their music, spirit and attitude. Retreat number four, the mixing of the new album, was if you'd like to say so love at first sight:
"I would never have taken on this much work if I hadn't known that this band was something special. I was fascinated by these guys and their music". Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
