Sons of Liberty
There are at least four artists named Sons of Liberty
1) A 2009 solo project of Jon Schaffer, founder of the band Iced Earth. He has recorded an album called Brush-fires of the Mind which is available for free download at the Sons of Liberty webpage.

The project has been revealed on the 16th of December 2009 on the Iced Earth webpage, as Jon Schaffer stated:
"My desire is for Sons of Liberty to become part of a much larger movement that is happening around the world. This new website will be a think-tank containing lots of interesting web-links, book and movie recommendations, and much more. This will be an ongoing process, so check back often.
This is about the message and not the messenger. This is a project that I encourage you to copy and share with your friends.
I care very much about what is happening in our world, we’ve been steamrolling down this road for a long time, so I assure you this is not a politically biased message. I’m hoping to set a few brush-fires in the minds of the listeners with this one. So please, check it out, do the research and get involved!".
2) A short-lived Boston based band (summer of 2005) who played riotous hardcore in the spirit of the American Revolution -- notable for their outspoken opposition to loyalists, fags, and emos, as well as for their having worn rare, authentic period garb during live performance. Mega Diss side project Ludgate has managed to preserve the band's legacy by continuing to regularly cover Sons' hit 'Fuck You Loyalists' live, protecting SOL's output from total historical erasure. It remains an open question whether the anachronistic attitude evinced toward homosexuals in the band's lyrics is simply part of the elaborate theatrics of their historical project. Music theorist Tod Machover believes so, applying to the band's oeuvre Raymond Williams' concept of 'structures of feeling', wherein the textures of lived experience in a certain socio-cultural moment are evoked in a text -- that moment being, in the case of SOL's work, 1776 Boston; to Machover, no other artist -- in any medium -- has achieved this evocation as totally as Boston's Sons of Liberty.

4) An independent rock and roll act from Chicago. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
