Strong Asian Mothers
London’s Strong Asian Mother’s blend of styles and emphatic live show has been making waves on London’s underground gig scene for a while and now the band are about to step firmly in to the lime light.
Best friends since their early years, Amer, Khushi and Josh have played in bands together throughout their childhoods but it was under Strong Asian Mothers that they really found their strength. Tying together influences from Hip Hop and Trap with Pop in a live band aesthetic really sets this band out all on their own path.
If in the studio these three excel, then on the stage is where they truly come in to their own. A string of headline spots for Communion have cemented them as one of the country’s most exciting and promising live acts.
Blending electronic and live elements they seamlessly bridge the gap between gig and club and really bring the party.
Their debut ‘Lynx Africa’ EP released in May 2106, was received with wide critical acclaim and immediately gathered support from Radio 1 with DJs Huw Stephens playing all releases to date and Annie Mac naming them as a 'New Name for 2016'. They've had tracks premiered on both Radio 1 and online by The Line Of Best Fit, Pigeons and Planes and Stereogum and with "exhilarating" and "energetic" appearances at Bestival, Secret Garden Party, The Great Escape, Reading & Leeds as well as many others over the summer, Strong Asian Mothers have embarked on 2016 with a real statement of intent.
