Takaru
Takaru was a political hardcore band from the San Francisco area of California. The band was know for heavy and ferocious hardcore coupled with a sharp intellect. Their name was taken from the Kurt Vonegut book, “Player Piano”. It's the Brahtpurian word for “slave”.
The band members were at first Seth Robert Baab (Funeral Diner), Duwayne Andersen (Ruhaeda), Sean Andrews (A Days Refrain, Tasharah), Joshua Stein (Kwakiutl Cannibal Society) and Brandon Fonst. Seth and Brandon would later be replaced by Dan Wedgewood and Aaron Nice of A Light In The Attic.
Formed after Sean and Joshua both moved from the East Coast to the West Coast in late 2002, the band would play it's first show the 28th of December in 2002 with Off Minor, Yaphet Kotto and A Light In The Attic. The following year their first release, the split 12" with A Light In The Attic was released as well as the " There Can Be Only None" LP and The Assistant / This Ship Will Sink split 12".
Takaru would take its members through Europe and the USA before releasing their last release the self-titled EP on the ever popular 7" format sold at their last shows in March of 2005.
Members of this band went on to be in Burial Year, No Dice, Obelisk, and Horn of Dagoth.
