Tanja La Croix
Tanja La Croix aka Tanja Wettach, born April 8th, 1982 is a professional Model and at the same time a very talented DJ. Against all prejudices she’s living-proof that a beauty-queen can also be a first-class turntable-artist and a gifted dance-producer
At the young age of 16, she started her modeling career as a contestant at the Miss Bodensee beauty-pageant. In 2001 she entered the Miss Switzerland finales. She then became third runner up at the Miss Model of the World contest in Istanbul.
Her modeling career includes walks for Dolce & Gabbana and Dior just to name a few. She was on editorial photo-collections for GQ (Italy), Max and Black & White (Australia).
For a long period, Tanja, accompanied one of her DJ-friends to his gigs and had the opportunity to look over his shoulders. “Dancing is my passion. Nothing is better then dancing to this music”, she always said back then. But suddenly she became very intrigued by the idea of standing behind the turntables herself, - mainly because of the crowd-reactions to certain songs. The cheers and dido’s set her on fire.
So in 2003 she bought herself five of her favorite songs and started her DJ-career at home. Today over thousand records are piled up in her room. In lightning speed she was showered with booking requests and started playing in renowned clubs all over the world.
Summer 2004 was the first time Tanja played at the legendary Space club in Mykonos, Greece. Since then the club books her every year. An employee of the Cognac Factory Hennessey saw her playing at a Club in Switzerland and booked the breathtaking-beauty for some promo-gigs in China. The Tour included gigs at the Scarlett Nanjing, Fashion Club Chengdu and Le Tour Chuangchu. Further she was booked, in Rumenia (Zamborra, Timisoara) and Germany (Paris Club Stuttgard, Citrus Club in Ulm and Hugo club in Langenargen). Hotspots back home in Switzerland include; MAD club in Lausanne, Club Q – Supermaket – Indochine club all in Zurich and the Elephant club in St. Gallen.
In 2006 she compiled and mixed her first Compilation for “Laut & Spitz” (Magnifique Music GmbH) a renown Party-Booklet/Portal. For her debut-song “Bikini” she started working with Chris Reece, at the “Goodnight Kiss Productions”-Studios, known for productions for artists such as; “Tatana”, “Mr. Fiction” and “Leon Klein” just to name a few.
From there on she started working intensively on her debut-album “A trip to Bikini Island”. The album peaked at number 49 in the official Swiss album charts. It is already unusual for a DJ to even enter the Swiss album charts, but to enter it with a debut-album is an outstanding achievement. One of the
reasons for its success must be the very wide rage of electronic styles contained.
For example: “Calling World” is an Electro-House track with a very dry baseline. On the other hand there is “A man tonight” a prime tribal-house tune. Then we have “Horny as me” a very spicy brake beat track, whose German version “Ich bin so geil” includes a cheeky line sung by Tanja herself.
Far eastern melodies and vocals make „Habibi“ an escape to 1001 nights. “The Gun” contains a sample of “Magnum PI”’s legendary theme-song. “Catwalk” sung by “Sophie Kalt” is a fashion-house homage/persiflage to todays fashion industry. Of course the album also includes electro-pop tunes like “Wet” & “D.N.A (Don’t need anything)” both sung by Swiss-Diva “Claudia D’Addio” or “Save me” a true Anthem sung by signer/songwriter “Jaimeé”.
All in all, a splendid debut album. On her journey to the top Tanja has become an unstoppable force of nature who juggles a double-career always with a smile on her beautiful face. Her Album “A trip to Bikini Island” is her ticket to an international career.
Tanja is currently working on her second mix-compilation. She will release her first official single & video "Dosta Ola" this spring.
