The Farthest Edge
The Farthest Edge was formed in the summer of 2011, by veteran musicians Rich Candelaria, Patrick Michaelis, and Matt Ryan. Candelaria (formerly of Grudge) was partnered in a recording studio where he met young Zack Goggins doing session work for a client. The duo got together in what is now the group's rehearsal space, and assembled the foundation of what became The Farthest Edge. During the same time frame, Candelaria came across Patrick Lee who was performing at a local venue, and asked if he'd be interested in writing some material. Matt Ryan, who had just made the decision to postpone a move to Connecticut, had been in touch with Candelaria and hopped onboard. Shortly thereafter, Michaelis, Candelaria, and Ryan co-wrote what is now the first single on the debut album. The final piece of the puzzle was found in bass player Stefan Flores, whose musical career previously consisted primarily of playing drums. The fantastic chemistry between the members inevitably led to an amped up live debut opening for the likes of Pop Evil, Static-X, Deuce, and supporting bands such as Cinderella, Sick Puppies, and Candlebox. By January of 2013, they had gained interest from several music industry professionals and also recorded the rest of their album with renowned guitarist Clint Lowery of Sevendust who produced the tracks in New Jersey at Architekt Music.
