1) The Loft is an English guitar pop band from the 80s. After several releases on Creation Records, the band broke up and frontman Peter Astor created The Weather Prophets with drummer Dave Morgan. After the Weather Prophets subsequently disbanded Peter Astor went on to have a successful solo career that continues to this day. They made a brief return for a tour in 2006. Most of The Loft songs on last.fm are by them.
On June 08, 2015 two cassette tapes of Pete Astor’s archive recordings of his pre-Loft and pre-Weather Prophets bands, The Damp Jungle (1980) and The Living Room (1982), were released by London label Negative Space Records http://negativespacemusic.bandcamp.com
2) The Loft is a Danish pop duo consisting of sampling artists Jakob Weise Hellum and Martin Bøge Pedersen. They produced three songs for the soundtrack to Susanne Bier's film Den Eneste Ene (The One and Only) in 1999. The soundtrack went double platinum in Denmark. In 2004 they released their first album, No Ordinary Man, and had a major hit in Denmark with the single City of Dreams. It featured a sample from Kim Larsen's 1983 hit Midt Om Natten. 3) The Loft is a six-piece American rock band from Nashville, TN. They are often called a jam band, and compared to the Black Crowes. They tour extensively in the U.S. Southeast, usually in college towns like Knoxville, Murfreesboro, Athens, Bowling Green, etc. The band has one LP, entitled, "Soulful Southeast Exhibit," and several EPs and live albums.
