The Banshee
The Banshee fomed in Genova (Italy) in 2001, while the guys were still teenagers.
“Public Talks”, their first album, was released in Italy on Suiteside Oct. 2006, and then distributed in Nov. 2007 by Fading Ways Music in UK , Canada and Benelux.
The album got an enthusiast quote in the NME Breaking Bands column, airplay on Radio 1 and BBC6 by Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, with two successful UK tours following.
The Banshee latest album “Your Nice Habits” was recorded with ex-Clor member Luke Smith producing and mixing. Out in Europe January 2009, the album is due out in UK stores on Oct. 26th ‘09. “Your Nice Habits” is a wonderful piece of angular art-core pop, already been hotly tipped by the NME indie bible in its Radar section. Think Talking Heads, Devo, New Order, Wire, XTC or The Smiths and you would not be a million miles from the mark.
Already in 2009; The Banshee played a one month European tour in February that included some UK shows; March saw the release of a download EP entitled “People Around” on Shifty Disco (Young Knives, Elf Power, King of Spain..). Now under the wing of European booking agent Proton (SHITDISCO, Casiokids) – The Banshee will play a new string of European shows early October 2009.
