The Bootleggers
The Bootleggers are a band formed to soundtrack the film Lawless which is a 2012 American gangster film directed by John Hillcoat. The soundtrack for the film was released on August 28, 2012.
The core members are Nick Cave & Warren Ellis with musicians Martyn P. Casey, George Vjestica & David Sardy also featuring Mark Lanegan, Emmylou Harris & Ralph Stanley on vocals.
The film was based on Matt Bondurant's 2008 novel The Wettest County in the World about his grandfather and great-uncles in Prohibition-era Franklin County, Virginia. The novel was adapted into a screenplay by Nick Cave, and the film stars Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke & Guy Pearce.
