The Dean Malenkos
Craig Hamlin (guitar), Shane Kerr (bass) and Jonny Horseface (drums) have been playing together for the last decade, initially coming together with explosive frontman Chris McFadden in the now defunct but also legendary punk band the Carmines.After an amicable split, the trio formed a three-piece prog-country/western-vaudville punk outfit called The Dean Malenkos, and immediately started writing material for their first album, the independently released Seven Minute Abs. Aggravated Music, a small label based in California, would release the next Malenkos full length (Arse Capades) and a split EP with Moncton-based pop-punk band HOPE (Do You Smell Gas?). Though working with Aggravated was rewarding, to say the least, the band has decided to release their newest offering, "The Album That Turns Girls Into Sluts" independently. Working with Laurence Currie (Sloan, the Ghandarvas, the Inbreds) at Idea of East studios in their hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia the Dean Malenkos were able to achieve the rich sonic tapestry that they have come to be known for; lush harmony arrangements, snarling, carcinogenic guitars, sexually undulating bass tones and big, retard-with-helmet-crashing-into-table drums.
