BIO
It’s been five years since Toronto’s the Golden Dogs released their third album, Coat of Arms, and they nearly didn’t make it to a fourth. Husband-and-wife duo Dave Azzolini and Jessica Grassia make up the core of the band, but the two came off of 2010’s tour minus a drummer, decided to sell their van and "started contemplating [their] musical existence."
It wasn’t until 2012 that Azzolini and Grassia started experimenting with new material again, eventually leading them to this new album, 3 ½. And let me tell you, these dancing shoes are happy the two kept chipping away at all things golden: 3 ½ is pure power-pop goodness.
Grassia, normally on keys, moved to the kit during shows supporting the last album. She's stayed put behind the drums, while still delivering sweet vocals. Azzolini remains where he started, with the guitar and vocals, and they’ve added two new members: Stefanie McCarroll (Brave Shores) at the keys and guitar, and Alejandro Cairncross on bass.
The result is a collection of songs that will have you shaking it on the dance floor, arms up in the air and wildly waving with total abandon. It's music you can sweat and scream to, and it's glorious. 3 ½ proves that the Golden Dogs still have that musical Midas touch. Read more on Last.fm.
